What do you think when you are alone?

School children between the ages of 14 and 16 from Colombia responded to this query in a country where solitude is uncommon.

Colombian culture is deeply rooted in close-knit communities where frequent communication is the norm. Colombia is a very religious country, predominantly Catholic, where people often turn to God for answers to their problems. These children are searching for faith amidst disillusionment and doubt.
Their concept of God, however, extends beyond organized religion.

The collages, measuring 25.4 x 17.8 cm, were handmade by assembling small pieces and parts of photographs found in various magazines and gluing them onto a piece of paper.

Each composite picture was then scanned and converted back into a seamless photographic print for individual presentation. This exposé was presented at “Der Laden,” Trierer Str. 15, 99423 Weimar, Germany.
